My Story

Kyler P. Simon is a 17 year old young composer, clarinetist, pianist, and future astrophysicist. His dream is to be known as the first musical scientist. Born in New York City, he has grown up surrounded by various musical genres. He started playing the piano at age three at former Turtle Bay Music School and has studied at Lucy Moses Music School. He is a high school senior.  In his youth he sang with the St. Bartholomew’s Boys and Girls Choristers; had a choral residency in Exeter, England, in the summer of 2018; and has sung at Carnegie Hall and the Lotos Club in New York City.

Kyler's composed pieces have been featured at Lincoln Center's David Geffen Hall and WQXR by New York Philharmonic Very Young Composers.  He's the youngest Full Orchestra Finalist in the National Young Composers Challenge.  His father — a jazz musician — is his biggest musical inspiration, but he is also fascinated by the music of Leopold Mozart, J.S. Bach, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, and other Russian composers.  He's also inspired by music from Ray Charles, Chuck Berry, Cab Calloway, and many other jazz and R&B artists.
